Katowice’s Muzeum Śląskie won’t get the same media attention as the Guggenheim, and it won’t be as popular, However, there are reasons to suggest that it could have a similar effect in terms of the city’s ongoing regeneration. Tom Riley, an Engliahman based in Katowice, argues that the European Capital of Culture status for 2016 would have been a huge boost for Katowice, much bigger than it would have been for Wrocław.
