Dear colleagues, readers and friends:
I am appealing to you today with a special request for your assistance in these extremely challenging times. As you know, New Eastern Europe is a bimonthly publication which has been published since 2011 by the not-for-profit foundation called the Jan Nowak-Jeziorański College of Eastern Europe in Wrocław (Poland). Our annual budget for the publication is a combination of grants and sales. We take great pride in advancing our mission to shape the debate, enhance understanding and facilitate dialogue on the issues facing states that were once a part of the Soviet Union or under its influence.
The print edition of New Eastern Europe is distributed internationally in over 35 countries around the world. We sell in newsstands, bookstores and airports. Over the last several years our sales have largely increased. This trend not only confirms that our publication is appreciated, but also needed at a time when Eastern Europe is fading from the mainstream. The growing sales have also allowed us to maintain a significant degree of independence which is also becoming more difficult for NGO projects that are ever dependent on public funding.
But today, we need your help.
We just published our latest issue (April/May) which, due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, will not be able to reach the shelves and newsstands around the world since all distribution channels are currently closed. Without the ability to sell this issue, we are losing a significant portion of our budget, which helps pay for the editorial team, our authors, our printing and shipping costs, among other things.
That is why I am asking for your help. By purchasing an issue of New Eastern Europe via our web shop, you can directly assist us and at the same time receive an interesting read!
