We are devastated by the Russian invasion of independent Ukraine and the fact that war has returned to Europe. Russia and Belarus, as undisputed aggressors, should be met by a severe and united response from the international community.
At the same time, we are impressed and inspired by the strength and resilience of Ukrainian society. We want to do everything we can to support the citizens of Ukraine in this terrible situation.
We believe that we should listen to the voice of the Ukrainians themselves and help them in their time of need. We receive a lot of messages from our Ukrainian friends and we want to strengthen their voice and reach the largest group of people in the world with the message of Ukraine.
They want you to know that the Ukrainian Army, people and authorities are united against Russian aggression. They show us that they are standing not only for their own state, but also for all of Europe. Global unity and strict sanctions can decimate the Russian regime economically and stop this senseless war. They understand that NATO does not want to start a direct military conflict with the Russian Federation, and the Ukrainians feel that they are the ones preventing it, but only if western partners can provide military, humanitarian and economic support.
We can support Ukraine in many ways. Below is a list of activities that you can start implementing right away. Please sign this letter and share it further!
How to support Ukraine? What you can do:
– Join demonstrations no matter where in the world you are, support Ukraine and hold local governments accountable at a time when we need to act – every effort, no matter how small, counts;
– Demand from your political elites and the international community the strongest sanctions possible against Russia and Belarus, including disconnecting Russia from SWIFT and imposing a trade embargo, to isolate the aggressor; call for sanctions in field of energy and to stop buying Russian gas and oil; demand to sanction all Russian oligarchs and key officials, freeze their assets in all Western countries;
– Press for a full diplomatic isolation of Russia in all formats and ongoing military support for Ukraine: body armor, ammunition, anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles;
– Financially support Ukraine’s Armed Forces, humanitarian and aid organisations; donate funds to international humanitarian nonprofits aiding Ukrainians at the borders and from abroad. You can find a handy list of verified resources here;
– Address politicians in every possible way – use resources of your civil society organisations, write letters, petitions, social media posts, raise awareness about the situation in your networks;
– Show the Russian people that Putin initiated a real war and not an operation in Ukraine. Ask the Red Cross to assist in evacuating bodies of Russian soldiers who died in battle to Russia. If the Russian regime does not want to stop the war, the Russian society needs to protest;
– Watch out for disinformation, check facts and use reliable sources of information (Ukrainian media and verified Telegram channels; Ukraine’s government’s official accounts; international media);
– Advocate for Ukraine’s European Union membership.
We express our total solidarity with Ukraine! We call on all of our friends, families and neighbors to join us. We have reached the urgent need for ultimate political resolve.
