Toruń Conference: Eastern Europe’s Colour Revolutions
The Department of Eastern Europe of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and New Eastern Europe cordially invite you to participate in the International Conference “Colour Revolutions in the Perspective of the Past Decade: Multidimensionality of the system transition in the post-Soviet area”, which will take place on June 27th 2014.
April 25, 2014 - New Eastern Europe - Events
Because of the political processes taking place in recent years in the republics of the former Soviet Union, the issue of system transition in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia is still a current topic of discussion. Events of the past decade seem to confirm the thesis that, on the one hand, the dynamics of change in the post-Soviet area make the studies on these issues more relevant, while on the other, it contributes to their partial obsolescence. An extremely interesting phenomenon is also the formation of national identity accompanied by rebellion and civil disobedience. The above-mentioned issues have contributed to the outbreak of the “Colour Revolutions” that undoubtedly changed the area of the “near abroad”.
Comparatistic reflections on the evolution of political systems in the republics of the former Soviet Union will allow to understand the nature of the transition system in that area and will be an important voice in the discourse on Colour Revolutions. We are inviting Polish and foreign scholars dealing with the broadly defined subject of the transformation of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia to participate in the conference.
Applications will be accepted until April 27th 2014. The application form should be sent in electronic form to the email address: kolorowerewolucje2014@gmail.com
