Welcome to the December 2011 newsletter!

It's been a hectic November here at the NEE editorial office and we have been busy putting the finishing touches to the January/March 2012 issue of New Eastern Europe. It’s only been two months since we published our first ever issue but it seems like a lot has happened since then!

In the January-March 2012 issue of New Eastern Europe Polish journalist, Piotr Pogorzelski, exposes the setting behind the Tymoshenko case in Ukraine; Alexei Tulbure, Executive Director of the Helsinki Citizens Assembly of Moldova, unveils the illusions of the seemingly successful accomplishments of the Moldovan government in integrating the country with the European Union; while, Polish journalist, Jarosław Marczuk, presents a story from Georgia in which three photojournalists were arrested and later tried on espionage charges.

And that’s not all! The new issue also contains articles by Andrew Wilson, Senior Policy Fellow at the European Council of Foreign Relations; Basil Kerski, Director of the European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk; Shana Penn of the Taube Foundation of Jewish Culture; Ana Maria Sandu, a Romanian writer and journalist, as well as a personal memoir of Ukrainian dissident, Vyacheslav Chornovil, written by Myroslav Marynovych and the story behind the art of Polish-based, Lithuanian-born artist, Stasys Eidrigevicius.

We also have interviews with Hans-Gert Pöttering, Kakha Gogolashvili and Bogdan Borusewicz.

Online Extras

And remember that in addition to the print edition, our web site (www.neweasterneurope.eu) features articles which are only available online, as well as columns by  Andrew Wilson, Senior Fellow for the European Council on Foreign Relations, who writes a weekly blog called This Week in the East, and Dmitry Babich, Russian journalist, who writes a column called Inside Russia.
