From April 9-11th 2014 the European Remembrance symposium will be held in Prague. This is the third time that representatives from over 150 European institutions and organizations dealing with 20th-century history will discuss today’s attitude towards remembrance in the context of this year’s anniversaries of important historical events. The symposium is an initiative of the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity.

New Polish Translation of a Book on Erich Honecker

21.03.2014 HONECKRE baner 240x200 b-1Erich Honecker (1912-1994) was a German communist activist. During the Second World War he was persecuted by the Nazis, and after the war he was among the most influential politicians of the German Democratic Republic, being supported and trusted by the USSR. As an activist and later First Secretary of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany and head of state in 1971-1989, he influenced the GDR for decades.
