“Family Europe” Conference Concludes

The Conference of the Polish Society of Political Thought in Vilnius and the Association of Polish Scientists in Lithuania.

On April 9-11th 2014 in the House of Polish Culture in Vilnius, an international conference was organised by the Polish Society of Political Thought (PTMP) – an association of scholars and PhD students dealing with political and legal doctrines and history of law – and the Association of Polish Scientists in Lithuania (SNPL) – the most important Polish scientific association in Lithuania. The conference was held under the title “Family Europe –European Political Thought and the Challenge of the 21st Century”. It was sponsored by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held under the honorary patronage of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland in Lithuania and the media patronage of the editors of New Eastern Europe.

The Visegrad Academy of Cultural Management (VACuM) is now Accepting Applications

The Visegrad Academy of Cultural Management (VACuM) is a new international educational initiative based on cooperation of Villa Decius Association with Marcel Hicter Association for Cultural Democracy from Brussels and supporting partners from Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine. The project is addressed to young culture managers working in public and private institutions and non-governmental organizations in the Visegrad Group countries and Eastern Partnership. VACuM is a 24-month training, encompassing two 10-day training sessions (September 1 – 10 in Kraków and March 9 – 18 in Prague) and a 3-day Diploma Seminar (September 12 – 14 in Tbilisi).

New Polish Translation of a Book on Erich Honecker

Erich Honecker (1912-1994) was a German communist activist. During the Second World War he was persecuted by the Nazis, and after the war he was among the most influential politicians of the German Democratic Republic, being supported and trusted by the USSR. As an activist and later First Secretary of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany and head of state in 1971-1989, he influenced the GDR for decades.
